candy divinity
Candy Divinity
2 1/2 c. white sugar
2/3 c. cold water
2/3 c. white syrup
2 egg whites
1 t. flavoring
nut meats or chopped fruits
Boil syrup, water and sugar to a hard boil. Pour over the stiffly beaten whites slowly. Beat. Add nuts and when it begins to look dull drop by the teaspoon onto oiled paper.
Recipe 1 is the inspiration for the name of this blog....divinity. As we all know in her family, this was her staple, as you can tell by the very stained recipe card. This was the recipe we think of when we think of Grandma Bea. Not for eating it as much as making it with her at their Cass Street apartment. We had lots of giggles and laughs in her kitchen, mixing with her pride and joy, her blue mixer Betsy. She wanted us to know her history, and to remember her. I am hoping this blog will spark memories, and remember all the good times we had with her.
